  • MAMEWIP: Can you say 16-bit color support ?! You heard it right, 16 bit color has been added to the NEOGEO driver, but only 3 games are supported at the moment, being GowCaizer, KOF97 and KOF98 !

  • News from Slashdot.org: Panix has written in with an open letter to the Emulation community where he addresses the recent rise and fall of the UltraHLE- the N64 emulator, ROM piracy, and the real reason for console emulators. Click HERE to read what he has to say.

  • Raine adds 2 more games! They've added Rodland (English version) and the original version of Pipi's & Bibi's called Whoopee! Check the Raine Site for pics :)

  • The Official #Retrogamers homepage has been updated! Lance McKay has added more pics of people that are in #retrogamers (EFnet IRC, feel free to join), we have 60 pics online now :) The page is also mirrored on this server, click here (and be scared =).

  • Victoria's Secret will be broadcasting their new fashion show LIVE on the net on Feb. 3rd, 1999 =) They have bought a 30 second slot for a commercial at half-time during the SUPER BOWL where they will point (bad pun intended ;) viewers to their website ! Personally, I have this feeling their website will be overcrowded =)

  • Prodigy Classic Service is being shut down! The costs to get it all Y2K compliant were too high. Thanks to |Pogo| for the link.

  • Kazuya has scanned an article from CTW (the best computer trade paper, read by ALL the big game companies) which defends emulation! It's pretty nice to read an article that supports the emulation community for once, click here to see the scan (500+ kb)

  • Computer Trade Weekly has interviewed Doug Lowenstein, president of our beloved IDSA, where they focus on emulation and the IDSA's (succesful attempts) of shutting sites down. One of the more remarkable answer's of Mr. Lowenstein is this: "WE'VE BEEN STEADILY WORKING TO SHUT DOWN THE EMULATION SCENE FOR OVER A YEAR". How nice, Mr. Lowenstein. Mr. Bongo has put up a text transcript of the interview at his C.L.E.A.R. Site. (Atila)

  • Monster has sent me THIS new version of Neo Geo MAME 0.35 beta 2. It has drivers for ONLY Neo Geo games including Maruko's Deluxe Quiz & Robo Army MVS. You can also read Monster's comments (in Chinese only) Here. Good luck with your exams Monster! (Prophet)

  • It appears that UltraHLE is *officially* over. Thanks Adrox of Emusphere for the news. (Prophet)

  • Straight from Foxy's page at Emuunlim: The UltraHLE emulator has now officially discontinued. I am glad to hear that both authors are going to stay on at Emulators Unlimited in another capacity yet to be decided. They're just having a long break after the last few difficult days.

  • RockNES has not quit! :) Thanks again Adrox. (Prophet)
RockNES is not dead. After this short stop, I would like to say I didn't change my mind about a possible illegality. We will continue the RockNES development (me and Kritz). *Any* problem, goodbye emulation, anymore. Thanks for your support.

  • Can Raine be far off? Let keep our fingers crossed! (Prophet)

  • JoseQ's Emuviews gets a BIG scoop on the upcoming release of Shark, a Windows based arcade emu by Dead Serious Clan. Apparently the next release will arrive within a few days, supporting around 15 games including Outzone, Hellfire & Zero Wing! (Prophet)

  • Emuunlim has opened 2 new message boards, including a Next Generation Emulation board. Go post your thoughts! (Prophet)

  • CyberJedi has put up an interesting page detailing how to convert a Microsoft Sidewinder into an arcade joystick unit. I'm currently making a similar project so I found it interesting. You might too. :) (Prophet)

  •   Saturday, January 30th 1999 - Last updated @ 23:10 CET

  • 250MHz microprocessor consists of a CPU core with 128b multimedia extensions, 10 floating-point multiplier accumulators, four floating-point dividers, an MPEG2 decoder, a 10-channel DMA controller, and other peripherals with 128b internal buses on one die. It contains 10.5M transistors in 17x14.1mm2 and dissipates 15W at 1.8V. This could be the new heart of the PSX2 :) Click here to read more about it and it has a nice story on BLEEM too. Thanks to _Mark_ for the link.

  • I have just found out that Alex will no longer be working on MK2 and NBAJAM in MAME. He has halted developement on that part of the TMS34010 driver until further notice.

  • XMAME 0.35 B2.1 released! Upto par with the DOS version, click here to read the changes. Be sure to visit the XMAME Site!!

  • If you're wondering what happened to yesterday's news, click the news archive link on the left ;)

  • Demi has posted an UltraHLE compatibility list, click here to check it out.

  • Matt Conte (author of NoFrendo) has posted a reply to Nintendo's and IDSA's statement yesterday. I can tell you he's pissed ..... Thank you Adrox :)

  • |LeStat| has posted a very nice editorial about the current affairs. It's worth a read, he mentions that maybe we should split emulation up into 2 sides. One that's in it for the new(er) games and one that's in it for the old(er). And the IDSA should go after the new camp, leaving us "oldies" alone =)

  • My sister has just given birth to a lovely little boy ! I'm an uncle now =)

  • First you help M$ get big and now you're going to do it to AOL ?!

  • I'd still like to point out that we still have the MAME 0.35 b2 roms online.

  • I have removed Prophet's editorial after he asked me to do so. He said it was his "overactive imagination playing tricks on him" :-) I have to say though that Prophet made a few good points. Editorials on Retrogames will now be posted on the general emulation messageboard, Prophet is an active messageboard poster :)

  • MAMEWIP news: Namco System 2 driver (VERY, VERY Preliminary!!) has been added! It currently gets the supported games (Rolling thunder II, Cosmo Gang and Phelios) running upto the Start Screen. Let's hope MAMEDEV can get it working properly :)

  • I received a mail from Dr _Mario_ today, in which he wrote that a beta of his JAGUAR emu should be out within the next 2 months, maybe sooner. How's that for good news :)

  • NINCEST64 discontinued! This N64 emu that ran a few demos has been discontinued. Thanks to Zophar for the news. (Atila)

  • New NES emulator debuts: NESEM! This emu has been programmed in QuickBasic v7.1 Extended, so it pretty cool to see it run like it does. It's not really compatible yet, gamewise, but Balloon Force is fully supported but Mario 1 doesn't run yet. Click here to go to the homepage. You can get the source code here. Oh yeah, it's made by the author of NES4PC :) Thanks to News-U-Lator for the news.

  • We have removed UltraHLE upon the authors' request, they ask all sites to no longer carry it. (Atila)

  • The fallout continues... The authors of Rocknes (NES Emu) seem to have quit: "Why? I donīt want to do something "cool, interesting, just for fun" if this is illegal. I canīt see good things around emulation for now (Nintendo and IDSA), so, it seems time to stop... Iīm not a hacker, "warezman" or something... There are *many* info avaliable, hence itīs impossible you donīt try to write your own videogame emulator, itīs fun, but illegal (?), you canīt (?) and itīs enough (?)." Thanks to Adrox of Emusphere for the info. (Prophet)

  • Nintendo's stance regarding UltraHLE:
"We are currently reviewing all of our possible options, but we do not tolerate counterfeiting, piracy, or infringement of our intellectual property rights in any form."

Read the complete story at www.ign.com. Thanks avtr for the news. (Prophet)

  • Brian Galm has released a very nice looking update of DBF (Dboy Frontend) 1.0.8 for use with the latest Dboy. You *might* need to download the Visual Basic runtime libraries (1.3mb) as well. (Prophet)

  • Dboy 0.40a now available for download. I've converted the LZH file from the homepage to ZIP for your convenience. (Prophet)

  •   Friday, January 29th 1999 - Last updated @ 21:55 CET

  • Oh wow!! I want one !! Thanks to DanB for the link

  • The weird thing with UltraHLE is that is runs commercial games, but it can't really load the demos and homebrewn stuff =) Completely the opposite of PUR and NEMU64 :)

  • If only everything was so easy :)

  • The INTEL Boycott continues! "After meeting with Intel officials for two hours on January 28, the organizers of the boycott determined that the software patch announced by Intel Monday was not sufficient to eliminate the privacy problems of the PSN", click here for the full story. Thanks to |pogo| for the news.

  • I have just gotten confirmation that the UltraHLE N64 emu is *NOT* dead!

  • Small mistake, I used Glid3d.zip (1.2 MB) to run it!!

  • I have just played Mario64 on my machine without a 3DFX card!! I used a glide wrapper (sort of 3DFX emu), it wasn't really fluent (about 15 fps on my PII-266/ATI Xpert@Work AGP 2x card), but then again, who cares :) Use THIS proggy to play (or attempt to) run it. Set your resolution in the emu to 800x600 or better. I'm not saying it'll work for you, but it's worth a shot!

  • If you have an urge to talk about UltraHLE, feel free to join #Retrogamers on EFnet IRC, or use the general emulation messageboard. Unfortunately, N64 Rom requests are *NOT* allowed in the channel or on the messageboards.

  • Here are some pics I made with UltraHLE a few days ago, using a P166MMX and a Monster 2 card, Mario and GoldenEye :)

  • I was talking to the authors of UltraHLE last night (before this whole thing about quitting came up) and the question I asked them first was: When's D3D support coming ? Epsilon replied by saying he didn't know if and when it'd be added. But chances were they'd add OpenGL support first, before D3D. He doesn't really like D3D =) Now, let's hope they didn't quit the project, I' sure a LOT of people would like OpenGL/D3D support =) (Atila)

  • UltraHLE made the news, IGN has put up a nice review of the emulator. Thanks to Bigphoot14 and Adrox for the links. (Atila)

  • Hmm... Seems the UltraHLE project *may* not be dead afterall... Click HERE to read what Emuunlim's Foxy had to say on our Gen Em board... (Prophet)

  • Emuviews gets the scoop on Street Fighter 1 in MAME!!! JoseQ has even posted some screenshots of the current driver! Go see! (Prophet)

  • NeoCharity has released the sound fix for RBFF2 compliments of Apollo69! (Prophet)

  • Seems the UltraHLE team have quit!!! Nightbird reports that their homepage is down, and Triple 6 posted this comment from the authors on our GenEm board: Statement released by authors, Epsilon and RealityMan, on IGN64.com: The UltraHLE Project was a technical demo, an experiment to see if Nintendo 64 emulation is really possible. It was not designed to be a tool for piracy. Once it was released, things moved at an unforeseen pace and not in the direction we wanted. It seems the emulation community is not ready for something like this so the unfortunate news is that the UltraHLE Project ends just as soon as it began. (Prophet)

  • A Brief Editorial from Prophet: Now that UltraHLE has been revealed to the world, I would like to publically state my point of view regarding this emulator, as an independant member of the Retrogames staff. While I'm impressed and fascinated by the technology and skill that made it possible - I DO NOT SUPPORT the use of copyrighted Nintendo 64 games with the emulator. I have never used UltraHLE, I have no interest in ROMs for use with it, nor will Retrogames EVER offer copyrighted N64 ROMs to download. To the visitors of Retrogames - please don't ask me for ROMs, information about the authors or anything else regarding UltraHLE - I DO NOT KNOW the answer to any of your questions. (Prophet)

  •   Thursday, January 28th 1999 - Last updated @ 23:07 CET

  • Well, what a nice release eh ? A fully working N64 emu at the cost of a download :) The authors will remain ANONYMOUS, so don't even THINK if mailing me. I'd also like to thank Emuunlim.com for letting me hype it up =) You guys rock!!

  • HERE IT IS, the emu we've been hyping all along! UltraHLE -- The *ULTIMATE* N64 emulator!! This baby can go FULL SPEED on a PII-350 or better, it can run almost ALL N64 roms, some better than the other, but MARIO64, ZELDA and a load more work FLAWLESSLY, with FULL SOUND!! Only drawback at this time is that ir *REQUIRES* a Voodooo card (Glide2x.dll) to run, later versions will be Direct3D!! This emulator uses Dynamic Recompilation, for faster execution, and boy does it show. Click here to go to the UltraHLE Site! "Emulation will NEVER be the same!"

  • Sony is sueing Connectix !! Thanks to Cory Boehm for the link.

  • It's close ......

  • Why beer is better than women ;)

  • Links page updated! Added the lads from EmuAdvice

  • I have to say I'm enjoying the speculation going on on IRC right now. People are saying Saturn, N64, Jaguar (where's my beta Dr. Mario ;), PSX and even CPS2 and CPS3. I guess we'll find out within the next 4 days!!

  • The Fox has just posted an *official statement* about the new emu, which several sites (including this one) have been hinting at. "Emulation will NEVER be the same!"

  • Here it is, ROBO ARMY MVS! Sorry about the delay.

  • SAV2880 has written a followup to last night's editorial, which you can read here.

  • MAME32 0.35 b2 released!!! Upto par with the DOS version, everything's included. If (for some strange reason) you're having trouble downloading, here's a mirror, courtesy of MASON.

  • A brief apology to UNAE. Apparently the MAME compiled by Monster (NeoGeo-only with a Maruko's Deluxe Quiz driver) was their exclusive! I was unaware at the time, so now I'm setting the record straight. Sorry guys - I didn't realize it at the time of my update. Thanks to UNAE & Monster for this build of MAME35b2. (Prophet)

  • EmuUnlim Radio (use WINAMP!!) will be interviewing Zophar of Zophar's Domain live Thursday at 7pm EDT (that's 1:00 AM CET), be sure to have your Winamp's running and your ears turned on. If you have any questions you want to ask Zophar, join #emuunlim on EFnet (IRC) tonight, the channel will be monitored!

  • I've finished uploading the remaining MAME 0.35b2 sets, MK2 is *not* there :) Check the left sidebar for the link to the roms.

  • I kinda forgot about Robo Army MVS, because I was busy playing that thing we've (me and JoseQ_ been hyping =) It will be "Da Bomb!" (Atila)

  • Metal Slug R *might* be coming soon for the NeoGeo 16-bit!!! =D Thanks BBH for the message on our NeoGeo board. (Prophet)

  • Hmm... Someone put an extra text file in one of the MAME 35 beta 2 builds that I posted recently. Since adding files violates the MAME distribution policy, I've removed this file and re-uploaded the zip. HERE it is: includes the joystick fix and ALL drivers including NeoGeo. (Prophet)

  • New version of Danji released. I believe it now has better Sidewinder support but no sound yet. Go HERE for more info. (Prophet)

  • Adrox at Emusphere recently posted some cool news about VB_98 - the Virtual Boy Emulator - apparently the Windows and Mac ports are coming along nicely! Take a look. :) (Prophet)

  •   Wednesday, January 27th 1999 - Last updated @ 23:45 CET

  • And don't forget to post your thoughts, questions and opinions on our new message boards! Good work Atila! Thanks. (Prophet)

  • Emuviews has an interesting Rumor Mill, in which JoseQ discusses Raine, System 16, Retrocade and that secret next-gen emu you've been hearing about... See what you think! (Prophet)

  • Read this to see WHY the INTEL/PIII/ID# thingie was bound to fail. Thanks to |pogo| for the link.

  • Gerard Maathuis has just released Flyer & Poster Pack 1.5 for use with MAME! He's added a few flyers, replaced a few with better looking ones, get this file and use it with the various mame frontends! You can get the other packs to complete your set at the homepage. (NB. Sorry for the typos :)

  • My ISP will be introducing the world's first printed emulation magazine very soon! It will feature ALL aspects of emulation, with reviews of games and emulators, a tech section, "compile MAME" section, a Q&A page, editorials, the list goes on :) It's alsmot done, the only thing that's needed now is a good catchy name. This is where you can help. Think of a good name, but the words EMU or RETRO are not allowed in the name. The name must also have a subtitle like this, "EMUMAG: Bringing back the oldies". If your entry is the chosen one, you will get a FREE SUBSCRIPTION AND A GAME OF YOUR CHOICE ($100 max)!! Send your entry to contest@emulationworld.com

  • Bleem site updated! To go get the latest scoop on what's going on at the moment, click here! They had some help from Microsoft with DX6.1 and they're adding MMX and 3DNow! instructions too! Thanks to Adrox for the news.

  • "Yeah, we went to the zoo and this monkey put his finger up his behind, took a wiff and fainted dude! He fell right off of the tree! I swear, it's the truth!!"

  • MAME Merge 2.11 released! The author states it's a "Win95/98/NT program to clean, merge and split your MAME 0.34 and later ROM sets." Couldn't have said it better myself :P

  • Yesterday must have been one of the busiest days ever for us, we had almost 24,000 hits =) Today I will be posting Lothar's latest dump, which is Robo Army MVS (neogeo). Lothar, Apollo69 and I had a nice chat last night, I think it was very productive =)

  • It's coming ........

  • There will be a new Email Wars on Thursday @ www.emuunlim.com It will be with Gordon Hollingsworth (who left the NSFE project recently), because he will now be working with a game company whose name we cannot mention. It will be a "fairwell to the emulation scene" type of thing.

  • Intel is planning to introduce a serial number with the new Pentium III, which will be transmitted over the Internet, with whatever you do. You buy someting over the net, they get your CPU ID number. You try to hack a pc, they get your CPU ID number, etc, etc. You can disable it, but only when your PC boots (edit the BIOS *everytime*). Now a privacy group is planning a boycot of Intel, click here to read! Thanks to |pogo| for the link

  • Here's a mirror donated by Oldie for the new MK2 set, it's a cable modem, don't hammer the site! ftp://xxxxxxxxx/mk2.zip. If your browser can't connect, use a REAL ftp program like CuteFTP. More mirrors should be appearing today :)

  • Just a note: I'm busy today studying for final exams tomorrow, so don't expect many updates from me until Tuesday! • Killerclown's Arcade has just opened for business! The cool thing about this site is the newbie support section. Hopefully Killerclown and RocLobsta's faq's can help people learn how to use emulators better. Good luck guys! (Prophet)

  •   Sunday, January 24th 1999 - Last updated @ 23:01 CET

  • All MAME 0.35 roms will be added today, MK2 looks good, can't play it, but it looks good =)

  • The new NeoGeo roms were found by Lasse Reinikainen, who made sure the MAMEDEV team got them. I will post them later today on a mirror (<5 MB total), so stay put :)

  • Gordon has updated his MAME ROM INFO PAGE. It's now updated for MAME 0.35b2, remember, it's a big file to load as an html file, so I'm mirroring the zip here (170 kb). This zip contains all romsizes/crcs/filenames/etc to all roms supported by the latest mame release..

  • Try running KOF98 in MAME 0.35 b2, you'll see it won't work because it's asking for the sound roms. Now, for once I don't have the roms. So don't think about bugging me for the roms :)

  • Well, I just thought of something :) Would anyone be interested in a doing a mirror of Retrogames.com in another language ? I'll do the Dutch mirror myself (gek he =), but if you can do a French, German, Italian, Spanish, Chinese, etc mirror, MAIL ME!!

  • Lothar mailed me today with some good news!! He's already working on his next dumps, which include: Dino Blades, Robo Army, RBFF2 (sound fix), KOF98 ("soundfix"), Magical Drop 1 *AND* a strange new game from Japan which he received a couple of days ago. Be sure to have about 40 MB free for this one!! These games will be released, in no specific order.

  • JoseQ has posted some eXlusive news about the upcoming C.A.G.E release, go check it now, this might be the next commercially available emulator!! (Atila)

  • Both Joy Joy Kid (MVS) and Maruko Deluxe Quiz have been moved to the NeoGeo page. Remember, both these games are NOT supported by MAME yet, but they will be soon.

  • Shadowdan made me a new (temp) logo, I thought I'd put it up today =)

  • Hu6280 1.89 released! Here's what's new: Fixed a bug in video_status emulation, 'Davis Cup Tennis' now runs perfectly, fixed a bug in dma emulation, this fixes explosion sprites on 'alices dream'. Next release will have these lovely (;-) features: 16 bit screen option (for the full pc-engine 512 colour effect), 'hu6280.cnf' file that will contain your options, keys etc. Fixed timer interrupts (I`m working on it dudes...), improved audio (I`ve discovered a bug in the audio shit, i`m working on it). added code to detect if screen resolution was changed, fixes dirty left behind graphics on 'final blaster' , 'outrun' etc. Be sure to check out the HU6280 Site!! • To my fellow Arcade@Home fans: Dutch noticed that "auto-frameskip" is missing from the settings options. Tim Eckel has e-mailed me regarding this minor problem, and an updated version will appear sometime soon. Keep in mind that auto-frameskip works fine as long as it's set in your mame.cfg. I suspect none of the beta-testers (myself included) noticed since we all had auto set in the cfg, and never bothered to even set any manual settings! Oops... (Prophet)

  • The NEW Arcade@Home version 35a released! This is without a doubt my (Prophet) favorite frontend for MAME. The feature list is awesome. Check it out! (Prophet)

  • Here it is, JOY JOY KID (arcade version). This rom has been dumped by Lothar, keep an eye out for this dumper ;) You can get it to work in the current mame, by renaming them to the viewpoint roms.

  • Dboy Front 1.4.1 released! This version adds 2 player support and needs the VB 6.1 runtimes.

  • More VBemu98 news, straight from the homepage: Nothing new, but I spent some time debugging last night, I fixed a bug in the Timer Interrupt and now the rest of the games no longer crash, no new games are working though... Golf and Virtual Baseball are getting a lot farther however... Also WarioLand is spending a lot of time listening to the Link Cable, Im wondering if it supports the link cable in some way? I need to hook the Display Status back up to the screen refresh, this will make Telero Boxer behave better (the screens wont just disappear like they do now), but it will also slow it down even more! This also might be why Mario Clash is so screwy (a lot of games use the display refresh bit to time fast sequences, Galactic pinball and Telero Boxer are the worst at this....) Thanks to MercuryZ for the news.

  • Too stupid to hack ;)

  • Danish (no, not the buns ;) software pirates busted !! Thanks to |pogo| for the link

  • Raine news: Raine has added support for 2 more games, they are Cadash (Italian version) and P47 (US version), both are fully playable with sound. Mario Silva has also added 2 more pages of Raine logos, they look good :) Be sure to check the Raine Site out.

  • NeoMAME 0.35 b1b released! Apollo69 has released this updated version, with support for the NeoBomber sound fix and Puzzle de Pon R, which was released yesterday. Naz dumped Puzzle de Pon R with long filenames, but it will work in the current Neo MAME. Chances are though that MAMEDEV will rename the files to the 8.3 convention.

  • Sheeesh, talk about a slow day ... Not much going on, probably the silence before the storm. JoseQ has updated his rumour mill again, I suggest you read it :) The Fox (EmuUnlim) had a good idea btw, Email Wars number xx: Atila vs Conjurer (Dave of Davesclassics). If Dave wants to, I'll gladly take it up ;) MAME 0,35 b2 should be out soon (??), but there are a lot core changes/fixes, so the longer it takes, the better it is for you =) I like what MAMEDEV is doing nowadays, fixing broken stuff and updating what is already there. Plus ofcourse, adding new games :) When you hang out in #retrogamers (IRC), you'll here a LOT of rumours/gossip and ofcourse all the latest news, before you see it on a website! Definately worth a check !!

  • Emuunlim.com in 3D! Emulators Unlimited is now available in a nice 3D world, click here to "experience it" :)

  • Naz has released Puzzle de Pon R, I don't know anything about this game :)

I am pleased to have won the grand prize, However, I wish to donate the prize to Neocharity and try to give something back to the Emulation scene (I dont click on the banners as much as I should do - which is something we are all probably guilty of). . . Retrogames gave a lot of people comfort and support when a lot of other sites were being dismantled . . . Atila offers a fresh perspective to the scene and heres to the next 1,000,000. . . bomb. I want to thank everyone for their continued support, without you my site would be nothing! This doesn't get said enough, but if it weren't for all those people that visit this site, I might as well pack up and leave :) On to the next million, which hopefully won't take 9 months :)

  • Welcome to my first update! My server access was finally resolved yesterday! =) Before I begin, I just want to thank Atila for asking me to join Retrogames, and thank everyone for visiting - and don't forget to drop by the messageboard while you're here! It's a great place to voice opinions, share news and ask questions.

  • Speaking of the messageboard, read THIS message from Nightbird - especially if you're interested in picking up a NeoGeo CD unit. SNK lives!

  • If you were around before the infamous videogame crash of '84, you might recall the Colecovision and it's big brother - ADAM. It was a pretty cool game system/computer that failed miserably for all sorts of reasons. But it DID have kickass versions of Donkey Kong, Ladybug, Zaxxon and many other cool games. You'll soon be able to try Version 1.0 of AdamEm, a Colecovision/Adam emulator. Take a look at the AdamEm homepage for details. Thanks to _Bnu at Zophar's Domain for the news.

  • If you haven't visited #retrogamers you should! You can even take a look at the #retrogamers regulars page to see what some of the people look like! It was updated over the weekened. You might even find me lurking about, but I strongly suggest you check out Ashley - one of the coolest and cutest young ladies in Emulation. ;) (Sorry Ash, I had to do that!)

  • Expect a new version of my favorite MAME frontend soon: Tim Eckel's Arcade@Home. The latest beta is full of great features, and I'd expect a public release later this week if all goes well!

  • A few tidbits: I hear that Pole Position emulation is coming along very well in MAME. Also, RUMOR has it that ALL the bad NeoGeo dumps are fixed - just a matter of time before they're released... In other tidbit news, it APPEARS that trogp has officially been slated for public consumption?! I know of at least one site, whose webmaster is a mamedev, who recently posted it for download... Until I know for sure whether MAME team has sanctioned the release, I won't say anymore.

  • Well that's it for now... :-)

  • #Retrogamers has REALLY taken off, we are now one of the biggest emulation based channels on EFNET :-) We also had a special guest last night, DELITE_AH! For those that are new to emulation, it will probably mean nothing, but to us "oldtimers", that means a lot. Delite_AH was the site-op of Atmostpherical Heights (R.I.P.), the best MAME page in existance :) The funny thing was, he found out about #Retrogamers through my page, I found out about #mamegames (*THE* Mame channel at that time) through his site =)

So, get your mIRC out and join one of the EFnet IRC servers and join #retrogamers. Be sure to choose a server closest to your geographical location!!
