here's a thought

would you consider coding the ultimate tosec rebuilder/renamer ?

simple outline of what it would do:

- fetch clrmame tosec dats from a 'dats' folder
- build a crc32/md5 database of those dats in ram
- scan an 'incoming' folder for zipfiles
- build a crc32/md5 database of those files in ram
- cross check both databases for matches
- rename/rezip files and sort them by folders (folders names taken from dats headers)
- make txt lists (list names taken from dats headers)
- later scans would check the lists first too see if a file is already there

all of this in one pass :)

this would be a dream come true, cause a gui based renamer is just too boring when doing hundreds of scans

this dream renamer/rebuilder wouldn't need to have a gui of course, plain command line would do

i don't think this project would take too much time to acomplish, given your experience with clrmame (handling zipfiles and dbased/datfiles)

oh well, just a thought, you probably don't care about tosec and/or don't have time for this
