well...there are 2 things:
The chd files have to be converted for some of the last mame versions...hmm..don't remember which version it was...something about 78 or so. Use chdman -update for that.
Second thing is the area51 change in 82: Old area51.chd is now area51a.chd and a new area51.chd replaces the old one.
