SubjectBug in CHDs folders renaming ??? new Reply to this message

I have CHDs into folders, one folder for one CHD, in first instance I created the folders with a random name to don't see the list. When uses Clrmamepro for renaming folder, I obserb that don't put it well in some cases, it put the name of the clone. Therefore in a second scan Clrmamepro says that I have missing CHDs, indeed the parents, and clones, it the set have more of one clone.

For example:
* If you put Area51 / Maximum Force Duo v2.0 in a folder named "test", cmp renaming to "a51mxr3k" when the correct name is "area51mx"

* Killer Instinct (kinst) to "kinst213"
* Killer Instinct2 (kinst2) to "kinst14"

* Beatmania 2nd MIX (bm2ndmix) -> Renaming OK

* Area51 (area51), Hiphomania Complete Mix (bmcompmx), Judge Dredd (jdredd), Maximun Force v1.05 (maxforce) and his clones don't probe because I don't have it.

I uses v3.40 but v3.32c too fail in the renaming of CHDs folders.

Maybe, the bug this relating when the clone have a simbol number in the name.

Greetings !!!

PD: Excuse me for my English. I hope you understand me.

Folder(Set)Renames are always fuzzy. If ClrMamePro finds an unknown folder/setname, it will check all files inside this set.

ClrMamePro checks the CRC32 (or SHA1/MD5 for chds) of the found files, matches them with its internal database and uses the setname which got the most checksummatches. This doesn't have to be the correct setname of course but usually it is.

In case of CHDs, you only have one file and so ClrMamePro can't really decide if it should use the clone or the parent, since both sets use that one file.
If you keep the roms unzipped in these folders, too (and not zipped in a rompath), the set+name check should be able to find the correct name.
