What's the quickest way to select all sets except those that use .chd files? Here's what I currently do:

1. With all sets selected, do a scan.
2. In Scan Results window, do a Copy to Clipboard->All Sets Messages.
3. Paste this into a text file.
4. Go through the text file, and basicly delete everything in it, except for the names of non-clone sets (I just want the parents) that are reported in messages about missing .chd's. I put all of these names on one line, seperated by semicolons. For MAME 0.84, I end up with this line:
area51; area51mx; biofreak; blitz; blitz2k; blitz99; bm1stmix; bm2ndmix; bm4thmix; bm5thmix; bmcompmx; bmcorerm; bmdct; calspeed; carnevil; cryptklr; hmcompm2; hyperath; jdredd; kinst; kinst2; mace; maxforce; pbball96; primrag2; qdrmfgp; qdrmfgp2; sfrush; sfrushrk; simpbowl; susume; vaportrx; vcircle; wargods; weddingr; wg3dh;
5. Copy this line, go into ClrMamePro Settings, go to Sets, Select None, make sure the Parent/Clones box is checked, and paste into the Select Sets box. Then invert the selection.

Now when I do a scan, it doesn't include .chd sets (which is what I want). Is there quicker way to do this? Editing down the text file like this is pretty tedious.

Much easier: Don't enable "diskimages"...if you only want to hide any possible information about missing chds. The belonging romsets are usually small.....so I doubt anyone wants to miss them in their collection. Ok..without the chd the game isn't playable though.
Otherwise...get a chd-less dat.
