My thesis is like hmm...1 1/2 years old. Now I graduated and left uni...forever ;)

iirc the 1st version which supported -listinfo was 34rc2. I got all dats at home...I can recheck that. if you want to use an old MAME, you have to add or change the MAME entry in engine.cfg to -listinfo (from -listxml). Or run the MAME binary with -listinfo, redirect the output and use that as a datfile... (.dat extension is needed).
