really, the original claim of mame32 that you had 796 roms was a total FAKE! the only count you can trust is clrmame one.
So, at the end of the story, you have NOT lost any rom, you have simply forced mame32 to make the right counting.
PS (anyway, just look into the backup folder of your clrmame folder, you will probably find there something that mame32 thought was a right rom game, but in reality was discovered by clrmame as bogus.)
