SubjectScanning Mame 'Arts' directories new Reply to this message

Hi Roman & gang.

Is there any way CMP can scan a MAME arts directory (like cpanel) without all the files having to be zipped together. i.e. so that they are all seperate in the cpanel directory

The problem is that when a new arts pack comes out, it takes me well over an hour to rezip all the files together.

Any help greatly appreciated

ClrMamePro generally supports 2 scanning modes:

rompath\setname\file 1... file n for unzipped sets
rompath\setname.zip for zipped sets

A set can be split over several rompaths if you like (but it's not useful).

Artwork packages usually (expections are artwork and samples) one set with all file inside that set.

Usually I update art zipfiles by a complete rebuild (with no recompress enabled). That's fast and after that I can do one zipmax runthrough. Scanning (and fixing) such an art pack isn't the way to go since most operations require lots of zipactivity and that'll take long.....so I prefer a full rebuild.

Thanks for the (incredibly!) quick reply Roman.

I'm not sure I understand what you mean though: let me try to be a bit more clear:

I've got all the png files for the cpanel in their own directory. Nothing is zipped either individually or collectively.

I just want CMP to scan that directory and tell me what images I'm missing. As it scans now: i can't seem to stop CMP looking for one big zip file. It just tells me the set is missing, or that all the individual png images are unnecesary.

Is it possible to get CMP to do this, and if so how?

Any help would again be gratefully received.

Well..remember the 2 possible scan modes:
rompath\setname\file 1 to file n - for unzipped sets
rompath\setname.zip for zipped sets

now take a look at the datfile you're scanning. Most of the art packs use only one set. The setname for the control panels is 'cpanel'. So your rompath subfolder has be named cpanel and that cpanel subfolder needs all png files in it. Your rompath has to point to the parent folder of cpanel. And again remember:
rompath\setname\file 1 to file n - for unzipped sets
rompath\setname.zip for zipped sets

;)

Ah! I see where you're going now!

It didn't register with me that there'd have to be a sub-directory , for some reason.

Thanks very much for your help!

I have the other situation. I have a bunch of zipped up snap archives and I want to rebuild a whole snap set.

I put my zipped archives in c:\mame\add_snap and added the folder under settings -> add-paths

then under settings -> rom-paths, I added c:\mame\snap

if I try to use "rebuilder", this happens...

Source-Files: 20
--> now even counting files within ZIPs <--
Analyzed Files: 2814
Created Files: 0
Matched Files: 0
Skipped Files: 2814

If I try to use scanner, this happens...

Missing Sets: 1 of 1
Wrong SetName Case: 0 [0 fixed]
Wrong Named Sets: 0 [0 fixed]
Missing Roms: 2946 of 2946
Wrong Named Roms: 0 [0 fixed]
Wrong RomName Case: 0 [0 fixed]
Wrong Sized Roms: 0 [0 fixed]
Wrong CRC32s: 0
Wrong MD5s:
Wrong SHA1s:
Missing Samples:
Wrong SampleName Case:

I must be dense. I'm just not getting it.
