I create identical mame directories on a box with XP to match my Win98 box. I run Clrmame on the XP box and load the Mame profile. Then I copy the Clrmame directory from my XP box to my Win98 box. Run Clrmame on the Win98 box. It will bypass the scanning of the Mame binary. Hope this helps.
