I have noticed a small bug while rebuilding from read only media. If you have "remove rebuild sourcefiles" selected then you get an error when it tries to do so.

Run time error abnormal program termination.

ummm....well *I* don't think that's a bug because most of us rebuild from our HD's...:-P

Hmmm.....it shouldn't end with a runtime error though!!! It could be caused by a bad zipstructure, too. Enable settings->zipsettings->full structure test blabla...and try again. If it doesn't fail anymore it's most likely a corrupt zipfilestructure...hard to catch those...even winzip crashes on such files.

Anyway....I will recheck that later at home. Thanks for reporting.

Ok...I checked it....From read only media (dvd/cd) with remove-rebuilt-source enabled....Works fine.
The runtime error was most likely caused by a corrupt zipfile structure then. Be sure you got settings->zipsettings->full zipstructure scan enabled. This is slower zipscan mode but it detects all kind of structure errors.
There is of course a slight possibility that something's wrong with the media, too or the cable to the drive. So clrmamepro receives bad data but rebuilding works definetly fine and an enabled remove option while working with readonly media isn't any problem at all.

Odd, it works fine when I untick the remove sourcefile button so I don't see how it can be a problem with the media or the zip?

This was actually a DVD+RW, but as you can't just write to it from Windows I assumed it was the same as read-only, maybe not though.

Hmm...if you know which file causes the error you can send it. I didn't test a DVD+rw but it doesn't play a role at all. You can try it even with a floppy disk ;) I guess it's somehow more related to a structure problem. If you got files on a different disk you could try that one, too.

I just rebuilt a full dvd of data and it worked just fine.

Guess we need more information about the actual files to find the cause of the runtime error.

I was rebuilding from several DVDs to 5 different DATs. I kept forgetting to untick the remove, and it crashed everytime it came across a file that needed rebuilding. So it's not a specific file.

I'll see if I can get anyway to make it work on my system and see if I can get you a definitive answer.

Thanks for the replies, great program you've got going here.

Weird thing indeed. Be sure you enable the mentioned full zipstructure scan option and if you have the chance, try a different drive or even better a different system.

Or try a writeprotected floppy disk 8)

or maybe a clean installation of the program....

It definetly works fine here.

I can't make it work no matter what I do! Here's the process I've followed:

created a directory and a text file in it. Dir2Dat on that directory. Scans fine, rebuilds fine from HD, full zip scan is enabled.

Burnt it to CD-R. Did a rebuild, crashes with the run-time error.
Burnt it to DVD+RW. Did a rebuild, crashes with the run-time error.
Tried rebuilding from both DVD writer and CD writer drive.

The file is created during the rebuild process, so it's definitely when it tries to delete the file from the disk that I get the error.

I don't have another system to try it on, so don't know what else I can do - sorry!

You can send me the file you've burned on CD....I can burn it and try it here.

I'm not sure what that would accomplish, the file is not the issue. This latest test was creating a file called test.txt and typing Brian into it. Then I did a Dir2Dat on that and rebuilt from that created dat. Worked fine from HD, crashed from CD or DVD.

I guess it must either be my system (XP SP2) or my burning software (NTI CD & DVD Maker Gold). Either way it only seems to be me having the issue, and it's very easy to get around, so I'm not all that worried about it :)

Ok....will do further tests on my side....why trying a writeprotected floppy disk for rebuilding.....I know most modern systems don't have a floppy anymore....but hey...maybe you got one ;)

Sorry, been offline for a couple of days, email sent.

Edit: Just tried it with 3.66c and I still get the same error.
