Does Clrmame support characters like ~ and similar strange ASCII chars?

Yes....some exceptions though due to filesystem limitations/usage....characters like "\<>*?:" can't be used (will be replaced automatically) for filenames (romnames, setnames....But they work for setdescriptions) and either ` or ´ is used for some internal usage (note..this isn't ').
