Subject3.71d Rebuild Issue new Reply to this message

I've just rebuilt from scratch a 0.99u1 set and 5735 sets were created as expected. On scanning the resultant folder CMP informs me that there are 352 wrong placed roms (roms apparently rebuilt to parent sets rather than clones).

Using the same 0.99u1 executable to scan my 0.99 set scans as one would expect - everything is OK except the new stuff for u1 is shown as missing obviously.

I haven't changed any settings recently and cannot explain this behaviour.

Pity I don't have 3.71c to do a further comparison.

There were no rebuilder related changes since ages and the rebuilder works fine here. Maybe you did change an option (or it was reset to a different default value) accidently. I will do further research later at home.

Thanks for the prompt reply Roman. I have several more tests I want to do to try and narrow down the cause of the problem.

Initially I was not using an official u1 executable so I've compiled my own and am rebuilding with that. Then I will try rebuilding from a 0.99 set instead of my usual 'rom repository' and see what happens.

Be sure you make a clean MAME compile! (no obj folder exists before running make). A not clean compile is known to cause problems with MAME's xml output.

Thanks for reporting....a BelongsToParent Flag wasn't set correctly in all cases.

In fact it's not a rebuilder issue, but a cleanup data error which can result in any kind of weird behaviour. Funnily it scanned fine and rebuilt fine as long as you only rebuild new files.
