I checked nearly all options, but I was not able to get out of this: Is there any way to check only existing sets? I mean: I'm not a full-setter and I only have, say, the 150 romsets I like to play, and I want to check if with the new mame update they are still OK. Is there any way to do this without checking the whole MAME fullset, and having to look for the romsets I need within the mess of missing sets? I think (if it doesn't already exists and i missed it) that a "Check only avaulable sets" option can be a very interesting feature for you already great program... :)

There are several methods:

- use a datfile which only includes the files you want...ok..not what you want I guess

- settings->sets, enable the sets you want to scan. There is a button to enable your currently enabled ones and a select sets box which understands all kind of expressions and even understands several variables...so you can e.g. enable only 1994 namco sets if you want ;) If you only want to scan your currently available ones, you have to come back there to repush the available sets button if you've added new sets.

- the common way: don't disable any sets in settings. keep all sets and systems enabled and scan. What's annoying about it...well...you see a lot of completly missing sets....but you can easily hide them by disabling scanner->popupmenu->view->show all missing sets.

You can use DatUtil to create your 'partial dat' if you wish. List all of the games that you are interested in in a text file (e.g. games.txt) and then use the following command:

datutil -f listinfo -g @games.txt "mame.dat"

Of course, ensure that mame.dat is a valid MAME data file. ;)
