SubjectFeature Request- www profiler new Reply to this message

I was wondering if the www profiler could be extended to include updates for:

-mameinfo
-history
-cheat
-hiscore

I know these are not dats, but the new profiler seems a perfect way to keep these up-to-date.

Perhaps they could be downloaded directly from clrmame.org via the profiler?

Just a thought.

Thanks for reading!

hmm....well...first of all the authors of these "dats" have to provide the xml with the loading information. Second of all, you need a way to determine where to put the downloaded files...etc...etc...

hmm...I may think about it 8)

well...thought about 2 minutes more about it....nah...it doesn't really fit in the (www) profiler. too much to handle...too less time.....although I like the idea.

I agree that it doesn't fit too much in CMP. But seems ideal for an emulation-friendly automatic update tool for all these little files.

Don't want it to be 'abused' by others tho. I see doing something like this opening the door for unscrupulous persons. Once you have a system that says 'you can download this particular file & cmp will place it here in your Mame directory'......doesn't take too much imagination to see where that could lead.
