Subject[Suggestion] Merge DATs new Reply to this message

hi there Roman, i have a suggestion to CMP. let's say for example i have the full set for WinKawaks 1.55 and FBA v0.2.95.23. since most roms are common (many only differ on the file name but have the same crc32) to both sets, my idea was to merge the DATs from both sets in a way that i would have one single set with the unique roms from each set and only one copy of the common roms or 3 sets, 1 for unique1, 1 for unique2 and 1 for common, thus saving space without losing any of the previous sets. what do you think?

That's an option for other tools which will create several dats (common, unique 1, unique 2) from a set of dats. Mainly logiqx does this already with all his mame supplement datfiles. It won't be included in the current cmpro engine.

no time and in fact I bet logiqx' mamediff can do it already, maybe limited to 2 input dats though.

mamediff doesn't merge dats, but I'd not merge dats for different emulators, just use supplements. but all this has been discussed already ^_^

I wasn't talking about merging dats but to create diff-dats, including supplement ones.
