well....I guess most people have different ways how to do it...I do it this way:

a) assuming I have a clean collection in rompaths 1 to m
b) assuming I collection not cleaned, wip roms in a path new1 to newM

Well...first of all I load the new datfile or better, I use the new mame binary to get the updated data.

Then I do a full scan (all check and fix options enabled).
After that normally only missing files should appear.

The I drop the paths new1 to newM in the scanresults window and with a correctly configured rebuilder, ClrMamePro rebuilds the new stuff to my collection....a fastscan is done automatically afterwards.

Maybe you still need some missing roms after that, download them and repeat the drag&drop + fastscan till you got them all.

The "adding new stuff part" can be done in several ways:
- use the rebuilder (maybe in combination with addpaths)
- use drag&drop in the scanresults window (= internally uses the rebuilder)
- use fixmissing in combination with addpaths

I normally prefer the rebuilder/drag&drop.

After the update you might want to know which sets have changed/were added. An easy way to do it is:
- set the date/time/file attribut of all romsets to something like 01/01/2003 and file attribut to -a
- disable settings->preserve archive date/time
- update your collection
- the sets with attribut +a and changed time/date are the new/changed ones.

Oh, I never get aware of the drag and drop feature, ok that was I did.

I have a dir named ROMS067, wich have all roms of mame 0.67 cleaned and working, and in another dir I named ROMS068 y have all new roms of version 0.68 (new and changed roms), so I did things like you told me: first I downloaded mame 0.68, created a dat file and did a scan with all checks and fixes to the dir ROMS067.
I got a list with the missing sets and files, then I draged all the files on dir ROMS068 to the result scan window and clrmame started to rebuild the roms (before, I set the source and destination path on the rebuilder to the same location (ROMS067)), after a while clrmame did a fast scan and I got all roms perfectly rebuilded on dir ROMS067 with no missing sets or files.

I'm very pleased with that, since I didn't had to do anything more, I was just a charm.

Very thanks to you roman, now my task to update roms will be more quickly.

Thanks again.
