SubjectExtracting Sets ?? Reply to this message

Hi All,

Should be an easy one to answer, I'm running a merged MAME set and have been using clrmame to manage the updates for this no worries... However...

Is there any way I can extract from the merged set a specific games ROM set with all the files required for that game ??

I was going to give some of the specific "System" Emulators a go, but obviously they wont work with the zips from a merged set...

TIA !

Well...if you got them fully merged, all files are already included. If you want to have full-working clones which work stand-alone, you have to create unmerged sets. You can do that with the rebuilder (prefered method) or the merger and even the scanner can do that for you.

If the set requires biossets, you also want them to be included in the set. For that, the rebuilder and scanner got advanced options for separating (or not) biossets.

The rebuilder method is prefered since you create the sets in a given destination (where the source points to your current set). Scanner and Merger on the other hand work in place. So if you got a full merged puckman.zip with all pacman clones included, I'd suggest to use the rebuilder, set the rebuilder merge mode to not merged and rebuild the zip.

But generally...what's your idea behind that? If you got fully merged sets, you already got all you need 8)....or did you mean something else?

If you only want to work on some selected sets, you can go to settings->sets (in the path selector) and enable/disable the sets you want/don't want. There are also other options (select sets edit box) to do all kind of magic selection stuff....like only select files from a given manufacturer etc....consult the documentation for that).

That's exactly what the rebuilder was made for:
Get a vivanonno datfile (e.g. from logiqx's old emulator datfiles), load it in cmpro, go to the rebuilder.
Rebuilder source = your old collection
Rebuilder destination = ...where the vivanonna files should be created.
Hit rebuild ;)
