I have used CLR Mame Pro and am familiar with Mame. When I scan my CHD's CMP tells me they are incorrectly merged, it wants the clones like area51t folder containing the CHD in the area 51 folder. When I put it in there and rescan it deletes it and says it is missing... what is up? This is driving me crazy?!?!?

1st of all, be sure you're using cmpro 3.95a.

The placement of chds depends on your selected merge mode. For full merged sets you have to put them into the parent set. In case of split merged sets, you have to put the chds belonging to the parent in the parent, the chds belonging to the clones in the the right clone folder. So in case of area51 you can store them:

Split Merged:
rompath\area51\area51.chd; rompath\area51t\area51t.chd

Full Merged:

rompath\area51\area51.chd; rompath\area51\area51t.chd
and no area51t subfolder exists.

It's not possible to have different merge modes for roms and chds. Although the name and unneeded check work fine and should not mark a used (within a parent/clone relationship) chd as unneeded so it gets deleted.

update: just checked, there might be an issue that a wrong named chd is also listed as unneeded. Guess I can fix this tonight. But all the other stuff I told you is correct though 8)
