Subjectcps2 chds and the sfzj phenomenon new Reply to this message

Well...you leeched 4GB of some sfzj chd and wondered why clrmamepro still complains about them...well...look at the definitions:
sfzj, sfzjr1 and sfzjr2 are clones of sfa. But sfa doesn't use the chd. That means for strict split-merging, each clone got a chd named sfzj ;) In other words....if you use splitmerged sets you have to triple the 4GB chd.

Enjoy 8) Yep..another point where rom loading and correct splitting are two different things. The sets are defined that way...tough luck. Either you change the dat, triple the chd or simply use full merged sets....or wait until CPS2 is finally decrypted.

I moved the sfzj.chd into my CHD directory in a "sfa" folder and put the sfa.zip merged rom sed in the CHD director as well. Clrmame complains that

Street Fighter Alpha: Warriors' Dreams (Euro 950727) [folder: sfa - size: 15mb]
Set-ZipFile AND Set-Folder exist in the same ROM-Path

Is this what you were talking about in your post? Does MAME not associate sfa as a CHD rom set (since as you said sfa doesn't use the CHD?)

csclub does the same.

I will check that as soon as I find some time.
If you use split merged sets, you have to triple the streetfighter chd and you have to put it in each subfolder.

So you got:

roms\sfzj.zip
roms\sfzjr1.zip
roms\sfzjr2.zip
roms\sfzj\sfzj.chd
roms\sfzjr1\sfzj.chd
roms\sfzjr2\sfzj.chd

*Edit* ok...for full merged sets and enabled dupe-check you'll see the "exists in various rompath" message. This is wrong and will be fixed in the next version. It's a little sideeffect of the sfa set which -as a parent- doesn't have a chd while the clones do....

What about for split sets, do I still need to trip the 4GB?

if you use split-merged sets you have to triple the chd, yes ;) But maybe some time this year we don't need them anyway (http://andreasnaive.blogspot.com)
