SubjectCan ClrMame sort my CHDs? new Reply to this message

After downloading a lot of new chds, it can be a pain making the right folders for them all and moving them around. Can't ClrMame do this for you? I understand it's impractical for ClrMame to "rebuild" these, but at least a scan should be able to move them to the right folders on the same drive. But it doesn't... is there a hidden option I am missing or can it just not do this? You'll get a "incorrectly merged" or "wrong placed" message, but ClrMame refuses to fix it for you when all it has to do is make the folder and move the file (easier than adding to a zip!).

yes...currently you only get a 'wrong placed chd' message. The automatic move is on my todo list but currently it's not in yet. Although I guess it will be included soon.

Ah CRAP, I just made a script to move the files based on the ClrMAME output:

wrong placed CHD: D:\ROMS\MAME\639jad01.chd (move to set: totlvice)

wrong placed CHD: D:\ROMS\MAME\755jaa01.chd (move to set: tokimosh)

What I didn't realise is that this ignores merged CHDs and only gives the direct set name, not parent name, so I still put them half in the wrong place. Gah... if it's set to "Merged", it should definitely not tell them to place them in those set names, but the parent instead. Now I have to make a more complicated script deriving the correct folder names from missing... :|

Well...the upcoming version can move it and uses the correct merging info...
