There was a time when his dats didn't include chds. I don't know if that changed. Besides, for MAME you should use the direct import from the binary and don't use datfiles.

Unneeded is anything which isn't listed in the datfile. That doesn't mean they are unusable. If they are listed with a different hashvalue, you simply have a wrong or outdated chd. And yes, even chds changed in the past.
Maybe you should post a screenshot from an expanded scanresults tree (with fix unneeded disabled) which lists the chd, so I can get an impression what cmpro moans about.
