you mix up several things here:

- wrongly named set and romnames in rompaths can be easily fixed/detected by using the options sets + roms + name (+ fix name)

- the addpath is only used for fix-missing. If a set or rom is not found, it looks in the addpaths (additionally rompaths and backup folder). In case of the addpath, it looks for the setname, the setname of a possible parent and setnames of possible clones. In case the sets in the addpath are completely named differently, they won't be picked up then. Scanner Advanced options 'fix missing scans all files' will check all sets in the addpath without caring about the name. This option will slow down the progress immensly. It's not recommended.

- the rebuilder is the commonly used method to add sets/roms to your collection. It doesn't care at all about the name of the source file. Either use the rebuilder itself or -as you already found out- use drag'n drop in the scan results window.
