Duh! (Slaps head) Of course. I knew I about the wrong names in the rompath- I should have put the files there instead of the addpath. I knew it was something simple. As for the rebuilder, in all the years I have used MAME, I actually have never used it- only the scanner. Huh. I'll have to give it a try.
Incidentally I did look at the advanced options a couple of times and must have glossed over that solution somehow, though as you say it is not recommended anyway.
