Subjectvista bug - cmp thinks it's running new Reply to this message

Hi Roman,

After performing scan operations, and then closing cmp, I get an error message when i try to restart it thereafter. I am running 3.103.

The only way i can seem to run cmp again is by restarting my computer.

The message which pops up when i try to start it reads 'the program is already running'. Suffice to say; it is not, and when i check taskmanager for any leftover processes running; nothing starting 'cmp...' appears.

This may or may not be related to problems I'm having with the download functionality. I've set the urls correctly on a few sites and can download directly to disk with this path:
> r-click context menu > www open > open x @ y

but when i try the 'download x @ y' menu item the download screen appears briefly and then immediately disappears. rescanning the set reveals nothing has been downloaded & rebuilt.

The option 'download all @ y' seems to call up the download dialog for somewhat longer, and the progress bar moves across, but rescanning again reveals no downloading has occured.

Hope this helps - let me know if i can provide more info.

* thought I should also mention that I run cmp - and am trying to download to - an external hard disk, in case that might be an issue.

Then it's related to your system. I'm developing on Vista and using it on Vista and never had that problem. Check in the taskmanager if cmpro.exe is still running as a process if you close it.

Then your url is most likely not useable for the download functionality or simply blocks accesses like this. WWW Open simply runs a browser with the given URL while download runs a real http or ftp connection. I've tested it with several ftp and http servers and it works fine. In some cases you even have to setup cmpro in your firewall settings to allow connections like these.

If you're willing to share the url privately I will have a look.

Generally for VISTA:
- run cmpro as administrator (right click->run as administrator)
- don't store it in a UAC controlled folder (e.g. c:\program files\...)

For MrDo's artwork page you can try the following (to be insert into urls.ini)

MrDo; http://www.arcadeflyers.com/artwork/; .zip

and for a ftp connection you should enter something like:

Bla; ftp://username:password@server:port/folder1/folder2/; .zip

Thanks Roman.

Your solution for the vista issue was bang on: running as admin resolved it. Thank you.

Furthermore; I kind of get how the www open stuff works now. I had been expecting the files to be rebuilt automatically immediately after download. In fact they go to a seperate download folder in cmp, where the user can drag and drop them into cmp as needed.

Hope this helps any one else out there.

I have to say that this incredibly powerful new functionality has rather slipped under the radar from what I can tell! Really great work roman!.

Any chance there'll be an option in the future to rebuild immediately after downloading all files ;)

well...auto rebuild is of course one of the next things for the download folder.
For now, since you can select any folder as download folder (see settings window), you can simply use an addpath or even a rompath (yiek) for it. But I was already thinking about an auto-rebuild from that folder....+ automatic fastscan afterwards as it is already done with the drag'n drop in the scanner window....
