SubjectRoms are Unneeded Files new Reply to this message

I am new to ClrMamePro, so there is probably something very simple that I am missing. I am trying to get it to rename my Nintendo DS roms. I have an updated dat file and I have given it the correct directory where my roms are located. However, when I scan, all my roms are read as "unneeded files," and apparently I am "missing" every rom.

Is there something I'm doing wrong that might be causing this problem? Thanks!

Be sure you got at least "sets + roms + name" enabled to check for wrong named sets. Another possibility is that you don't follow the correct storing method which is: rompath\setname\file 1... n. Maybe you should have a look at your rompath and the dat you're using. It should tell you how the sets are defined.

Another possibility is that your files are completely wrong. In case of DS files for example you might check decrypted roms with a datfile for encrypted ones or vice versa. Then of course all files 'unneeded'.

I do believe it has something to do with this. All of the .nds files are in a single folder, which is where I have the path set to. Do I have to manually place every rom each into their own folders?

I tried putting a single rom into a folder, and it was indeed found as an incorrectly named rom. However, the program proceeded to fix it by renaming the folder, not the rom. The rest of the roms were once again read as unneeded files.

Is there a way I can make it read the single folder full of .nds files, and rename those as needed?

So your current collection simply doesn't match the form which the dat needs...
Rebuild your collection by using the rebuilder to fit it easily.
