Rebuilding a NDS set from DAT file, it is working but taking over a day so far to complete. Is this normal?

This depends on so many factors....

1) your CPU and HD speed
2) if 'recompress' is used or not
3) what's the source of the data, not packed, rar, 7z etc..
4) do Virusscanners interfear / USB HDs are slow...etc...etc..
5) what additional options are used (e.g. additional md5/sha1 check)

Generally a zip to zip rebuild with no recompression is nearly as fast as a copy operation. So on a decent system it should be nearly as quick as copying 60GB or something....

so let's assume it takes 2 seconds per set and approx. 2500 sets....it takes 5000 seconds = 1 hour 23 minutes....

btw...what do you mean by "a nds set".. are you talking about one set or all NDS sets?

Have it working on 2000+ files all currently zipped. Not re-compressing. The problem must be I am using an external HD via esata. The system in a core2duo @ 2.4ghz

Be sure that virusscanner exclude the used paths, they slow down the process extremly....
External stuff is always slow ;)....or check if something's wrong on your system.

Got a C2D 6600 here....64bit Vista, 64bit cmpro (but that shouldn't play a role) and rebuild some demo data from one hd to a different one...both internal...(zip2zip) and it took sets nearly second by second....

I'll exit AVG and see if that helps once done. Only a couple hundred more to go. If i narrow the problem down i'll report here. MAME set rebuild / fix didn't seem to take this long but i keep that current so i really am not sure. Thanks for your help and your excellent program.

AVG (professional) got the option to exclude a set of folders. So you don't even have to stop it.
