There wasn't anything in the helpfile for this option, maybe its supposed to be obvious.

Anyway, I loaded a dat from the MESS executable, and it's loaded, and rebuilds roms fine. But when I click on the Dir2dat button, I'm not sure what to do next. Can you help?

Dir2dat is a quick'n easy datfile generator which can generate a datfile from a given folder.

If you only want to scan MESS roms, dir2dat is nothing for you.

Actually I was looking for something to convert an xml to a dat, and did eventually find the right button for that.

You are correct about dir2dat, it did what it claims, but since it cannot know about parent sets, it was no use to me.

Enjoy your holiday, you deserve a break. :)

xml is *the* datfile format. The old format is deprecated. Logiqx' tools can convert them. You can convert them with cmpro as well, but you have to disable the xml datformat in cmpro.ini and use scanner->scan-results->set information's export button to convert a loaded xml datfile.
