SubjectFixing not working and Split is the only option available... any suggestions? new Reply to this message

I've got two issues/questions about the current version (3.118a) of clrmamepro against my mame 0.126 set.

1 - I've got my ROM path and my samples path set correctly and I've got an add-path set up as well. However, whenever I do a full or fast scan, clrmamepro is not picking up files from the add-path and using them to fix the ROM files or the sample files that need the files that are in the add-path, despite me having all checks/fixes selected.

I come from an old (circa mame 0.100) version of clrmamepro and it used to work in this manner w/ no issues whatsoever. In fact, I depended upon this functionality to get my 0.100 set complete.

Am I doing something wrong or has this behavior changed? If it has changed, then what settings do I need to enable to get clrmamepro to 'scour' the files in the add-path and update the ROM/samples/etc. correctly?

2 - The second question I have is around ROM sets and their mode. Under the scanner in the 'you prefer' section, the merged and un-merged options are grayed out and I cannot choose anything but split (which is the default).

If I go into the merger, then I cannot change my preferences to merged/un-merged as split is the only available enabled option, as well due to merged/un-merged are grayed-out/unselectable. This operation also worked well in previous releases and I'm left to wonder what I may be doing wrong here, as I have a split set, but I want to create an un-merged set for portability (I'm not concerned about disk space at all).

Thanks for any help/suggestions here!

1 - There is no rebuilt of the samples with a "mame profile" made from .exe.
There is no crc value for the samples witch can be retrive from listxml.
clrmamepro find its info in listxml, and clrmamepro rebuilt is based on crc check...
So no rebuilt...

You must use a external/supplémental datfile for samples, if you want/to use the rebuilt feature.
Look for it in the downlaod section of Roman website..

2 - It need Roman's testing and conclusion...

1)

By default fix-missing picks up files from the addpaths by checking if the file exists (crc check) in the set stored there. So if pacman/bla.bin is missing it checks addpaths\pacman. It also checks possible parent/clone sets
So if you got the missing file there but stored in a different set, it won't be picked up. There are some other rules but they don't play a role here...There is a scanner advanced fix-missing option to search all sets but this slows down the scan process immensly.

Normally people add missing files with the rebuilder.

Samples don't have checksums listed in the datfile/MAME, so they can't be found or rebuilt.

2) full and not merged options are greyed out since you answered a question with 'NO' during datfile-parsing. There are some sets which can't be fully merged if their parent/clone relationship isn't removed. During parsing you are asked if you want to remove the parent/clone relationship or not. If you answer NO, you are forced to split-merged mode. Use profiler->clear cache and reload the profile if you want to revise your answer.
