When scanning mame 128 I get the message:
"Unneded fake clone: ...\Roms\Hellngt (merge to evilngt)".
I've read other posts about this error, but I don't think it's exactly the same problem.
It's not really a problem because the roms do load ok. I'm just curious.
Is there anything I can do to fix this, or any setting I can try to have clrmame do it?
I'm using split sets.

it simply means that any instance of hellngt has to be merged into evilngt. For roms this means, you don't need a zipfile or setfolder hellngt since the sets are 100% identical. And for chds it depends. Either the chds for the sets aren't identical, then you should keep a setsubfolder with the belonging chd. If they are identical, you can remove the subfolder.

Thanks for your answer.

Right now I only have the roms in an "evilngt" zip and the chd in a "hellngt" folder (there are no duplicates).
I thought you meant I had to rename the chd folder to "evilngt", but if I do that then I get "Set archive AND set folder exist in the same rompath".
In case it helps, the game loads fine in mame using either name.

Sorry if I'm missing anything obvious, but any suggestions I could try?

if you use split merged sets you should have:

rompath\evilngt.zip
rompath\hellngt\810eaa02.chd

if you use full merged sets you should have:

rompath\evilngt.zip
rompath\evilngt\810eaa02.chd
(and no rompath subfolder or zipfile named hellngt in any rompath!!)


Be sure you're using the latest cmpro and be sure you take the data comes from an official mame binary.

I'm using clrmame 119a and created the datfile from mame0128b_i686.exe downloaded from mamedev.
Just to be sure, I also got MameUI32 and got the same result.

well..it works fine here ;) Clear your profiler cache and try again. And check all rompaths if there isn't another instance of the setfolders.

Show me a screenshot, send me your cmpro.ini, the belonging *.cmp file from the settings folder. Also some information about which OS (Windows, Linux, MacOS)...
