Subjectunderstanding (bad|no)dumps Reply to this message

Hello,

I'm trying to understand how ClrMamePro operates under nodump and baddump situations. Under most cases if I have these roms generated ClrMamePro reports an unneeded file.

I've been observing that it appears ClrMamePro makes a fine distinction between baddump and nodump roms. The former are needed in the romset, while the latter are not. Is this the case for all romsets?

nodump = no dump exists for this rom IC
baddump = a dump exists but developers don't know if it's 100% correct or they definetly know that it's not correct

nodumps aren't needed by default (there are some nodump settings in datfiles where they can be set to required, obsolete or ignored), baddumps are needed.
