well...MAME devs don't care about some things which interfear with auditing sets. I can fully understand their points since they care about emulating the sets and naming the files accurately.
So for example you can't fully merge some sets (without using subfolders in zips) due to the fact that equally named roms have different hashcodes. For MAME it doesn't play a role since MAME loads by checksum compare.

There are other 'issues'...if a really important one is there, I usually contact Aaron or other devs about it...the common ones are..well...common ;)
