Well....cmpro only does standard c/c++ standard file access operations...and I somehow doubt that the libraries have major issues with accessing files over the net. So I suspect that something's wrong with your setup...timing issues...some other stuff interfearing (accessrights, virusscanners etc).
Of course you should also check if you're scanning with some of the slow-down features like sha1 check etc ;)

Maybe googling for NAS + Windows API CreateProcess and MFC CreateFile calls may find something...I will check this..
