Hi,

Firstly, thank you for this invaluable tool.

I'm using Dir2Dat to scan a folder containing 818 folders. Each of these folders contains two files. There are no archives (ZIP, RAR, etc.) anywhere in the file structure.

21 folders into the scan, CMP stops scanning. No error message and no scan complete message appears.

Options ticked for this scan are: -

Scan Subfolders
Add MD5
Add SHA1
Set-Subfolder Mode

Dat format: XML

Is this a bug, or am doing something wrong?

Regards.

most likely it found a big file and it takes a while till it calculated the sha1/md5.

...by the way, where is the sense to use dir2dat on a folder with so many subfolders? Normally you run it on one folder. Do you actually know what dir2dat does? ;) It's for creating datfiles...not for scanning folders....

Hi Roman,

The program doesn't lock-up, it just stops scanning the files/folders. The GUI is still usable.

I'm an uploader for the Pleasuredome community. This .dat I'm trying to create is an update to one I created last year, using the same method.

Regards.

Hmm...interesting.....so it sounds like somebody or something clicked the cancel button? 8) I will have a look at the sources.

ok...this happens when reading a file fails (e.g. due to access rights / sharing issues or while reading the bytes for sha1/md5 calculation).

I guess I add a warning for the file in question to the warningswindow and continue with the next file instead of stopping the folder scan completely.

When you get a chance to do an update that includes the warning, I'll let you know how I get on.

Thanks again for CMP. :-)

well....it will be part of the next version. However I can't give you a day when it'll be released. It's featurecomplete but I'm waiting for some mail....for..hmm...something ;)

Hi Roman,

Thanks for the update.

It turns out that the problem was the path length for the files I was trying to scan. Wouldn't have known this if you hadn't done the fix, so thank you. :-)

Regards.
