Ok, so I've been gone for awhile and my old system went kaput on me. So, I snagged a copy of the 64-bit build of CMP to go with Vista Ultimate x64. fresh install, gave it a home in a folder outside of Program Files (Yes, I have UAC on and my account's an Admin cause otherwise the other people who occasionally use the box do stupid things). So I go about scanning the last romset I backed up and noticed the following:

1) If I drag & drop a folder to the scan results window to rebuild from, it'll sometimes not pop up the rebuilder dialog...which if I close CMP afterward, I can't relaunch it due to getting a popup that it's already running.

2) With the Fix Missing option ticked, running either a New Scan or Scan (have "Deeper check..." and "'Fix Missing' scans all..." ticked in Advanced, also have Optimized rompath scanning ticked if that makes a difference) the check doesn't seem to scan subdirs of the addpaths I have set. I have to go into Rebuilder and run a rebuild that way to get the roms to add in. IIRC, the last time i used the program, it used to do that for me from the Scanner.

As I said, I've been away awhile and can't remember how I had things set up before, so any insight would be appreciated.

Well...it never popped up the rebuilder dialog, only the process Window. Drag and drop doesn't work under Windows Vista if the files you're dragging have different user access rights than the application's user right's where you drop them into.

I keep cmpro in d:\cmpro and have no problems with drag and drop with Vista Ultimate 64. My account is admin but I don't run the cmpro.exe with 'Run as admin' option.
So I guess you have to play around a bit.

cmpro.ini -> Adv_AllowRestart = on

Argh...what a performance killer that 'fix missing scans all' is. I don't see any reason to enable that. The rebuilder is always the better choise to add files.

Ok...I check this. Could be possible that this was never an option. Could be an option for the future.

And that's the prefered method.

It still does, believe me. If you can't drag'n drop it's a (Windows) access rights issue.

What I was actually meaning there was the "Rebuild dropped items?" popup with the Y/N buttons.

Cheers!

Hrm. Only time I ever remember using the actual rebuilder was when I was combining bits from something like 3 different romsets. However, since it's your baby, I'll just continue to operate from here on out under the notion that my memory is completely hosed.

That was actually a callback to the thing about the subdirs on Fix Missing.

At any rate, with a little fiddling and your pointer to the ini everything seems to be playing nice with each other now.

Thanks again.

That's just a warning prompt. Which can be enabled/disabled with Popupmenu->drag'n drop->show drag'n drop warning

I will make a note on my todo list

well...I'm pretty sure addpath subfolders aren't checked during fixmissing (maybe for multiple rebuilder sources).
Fix missing works set/name based, not file/hash based like the rebuilder.

Fix missing looks in "addpath[0...n]/setname" and /clonename and /parentname of the missing files' sets. Plus backupfolder plus several other rules are applied....but I'm sure it doesn't check possible subfolders.
