Let me restate the functionality I need since I seem to have gotten myself confused as well!

When I scan the first DVD, several roms are found, but marked as being incorrect because the name has changed. When I switch to the next DVD and rescan, these roms change from being found but incorrect to being missing because clrmame cannot find them on the second DVD. I would like it at the very least to be able to retain their status from the first scan and continue to list them as found but incorrect name. Then at the very end of all 20 DVDs, I can uncheck the name checkbox after the scan and see an accurate listing of what I am really missing.
