As I said: It will show an update warning if you use an old chd with a datfile/mame version which supports the new ones. I don't really see a reason to show one when the other way around happens. The old chdformat and mame version will become obsolete rather soon and a md5-only chd listed in the datfile isn't a good sign of "an old and ONLY and old chd is needed" while a md5 and sha1 chd in the datfile is a rather good sign for "a chd which was created at least with chdman is needed".

well...time will tell.
