Ok - fair enough. Guess I still have some more learning to do. :-)
BUT, I did notice some "odd" behaviour of the "uneeded" check under Advanced. It seems to want to flag 2 emulator-specific sets as dupes, when there are CRC differences in the zip, and in the 1 case, 75% completely different files.
WHILE, at the same time, it would NOT flag 12 hard disk zips (not the CHD's, but the ROMS for them) as dupes, even though they WERE the exact same file, both in filenames in/out of the zip, and of the CRC's, in both locations.
I've included the output below if you need it. I hope I'm not wasting all your time with this feedback. I don't think I'm using CMP as anyone else would, though. :-)
set exists in various romspaths: D:\Games\Emulators\mame32plus\roms\neogeo.zip; D:\Games\Emulators\Mame\roms\neogeo.zip
set exists in various romspaths: D:\Games\Emulators\mame32plus\roms\biofreak.zip; D:\Games\Emulators\Mame\roms\biofreak.zip; D:\Games\Emulators\Mame\roms\biofreak
BioFreaks (prototype) [folder: biofreak] Set-ZipFile AND Set-Folder exist in the same ROM-Path
