For MAME I advice everone NOT to use a datfile. Always use the mame binary (See Profiler->Create... for details). And always use the version you want to check. If you want to verify MAME .70 romsets, use a MAME 70 executable. For 78, use 78.
Logiqx provides MAME datfiles and supplement datfiles. They are only useful if you want to build supplement romsets. His 'normal' MAME datfiles don't include information about chd files and so you won't be able to check them.
