1st of all....I don't do anything for zipmax. Forward your wishes to Ben Jos please. 2nd of all....It's rather easy to see which zipfiles were already zipmaxed and which aren't. Simply set the fileattributs to -a before zipmaxing. Zipmax sets +a for each performed file.
