I've scanned my Nes set with the clrmame dat file and it shows one error for lipple island j b1 (crc error..i've tried about 4 different downloads of it too!) and all the rest are fine..when i import a romcenter dat or use romcenter it shows that file is o.k...but i get a lot of other files shown as being incorrect. So basically i have conflicting results and i'm using what are supposed to be equivalent Nes 1.01 dat files. Now i have also run GoodNes and it shows that i have all 8820 games and that there's nothing wrong. But are the good tools really that thorough...because i changed the name of one of my roms for a test and it didn't catch the problem. It's my understanding that both clrmame and romcenter dats for Nes are based on GoodNes. I checked the details of the NesScan from the good tool and i could see the crc values corresponded to the ones in romcenter..but i couldn't make the link to clrmame. Basically what i want to know is which one of these tools or which dat files do i trust? How are the dat files made from the good tools...can i make my own? will that matter? Just as a note the game with the crc error plays fine, so i was wondering if anyone had a version of lipple island (j) [b1] that clrmame actually considered correct. I'm really in the dark on these problems as there isn't really any information on this, at least not that i have found. Any help would be greatly appreciated, and i was also wondering if anyone knows of or would like to help make dat files for nes without all the redundant games such as bad dumps and overdumps...clean up the nes scene a little..i don't care for bad dumps...but i like having green lights beside my dat files:)
later and keep up the solid work
