-listinfo was added in .34rc1 and works fine in .36. You may get problems when you try to run a dos executable on an NT based OS like XP, 2K, NT.

Simply download the MAME .36 binary from mame.net (they got an old-releases section) and run a
mame.exe -listinfo > 36.dat
and use that created 36.dat file as a datfile. Worked fine here.
