Well...sure you can (and have to) update your romsets when a new mame version is released. Some sets get renamed, some bad dumps get replaced etc...etc..
You don't have to do that manually since that's exactly what clrmamepro was created to do. It will tell you exactly what is not ok with your collection. It will fix the sets for you...but newly added sets or redumps have to be downloaded first of course.
