Before I found this forum, I suggested this in private email to Roman. He politely declined. Roman, I completely understand about "real life" getting in the way of making further enhancements. I can fully respect that. I'm just hoping that if you saw others support the suggestion too, you might at least put it on your future enhancements list.

My suggestion is to add a ROMIDENT feature to CMP. The current ROMIDENT works, but being DOS is a little clunky. Plus the dat files are almost 2 years out of date.

While admittedly I don't know how much effort this would take, I thought that it would be mostly front end presentation work, as it seems that the actual processing functionality would be mostly already present in CMP.

If you think this would be helpful, please let Roman know. Otherwise, I will shut up about it and not bother Roman about it again.

Roman, if you do at some point consider this, one suggestion, the dat file that ROMIDENT uses is NOT tied to any particular emulator. Even though it is almost 2 years out of dat (for .dat file updates), he does have many ROMs identified that are not currently emulated. If possible, it would be helpful to carry over the dat file already present in ROMIDENT, and just add (not delte) to it to update it.

Again, Roman, I hope you are not offended by me posting this hear. If people support it, maybe you might consider it. Otherwise, like I said, I won't bother you with it again.

Joe
