Are the DVDs in PAL or NTSC format?

I forgot to ask earlier.

They came in!

There's a little audio sync problem with Han Solo in The
Falcon as they are in the Death Star's tractor beam, but
other than that they look good.

Thank you!!

Your present is in the mail...

SubjectI'm not too sure - I presume NTSC, but they are region 0 new Reply to this message

So, not too sure what that means. Maybe why you have a problem with the audio going out of synch in the tractor beam scene?

means it'll play on any dvd player, not just dvd players from any specific region... of course, if the video is PAL and someone's trying to play it on the vast majority of US televisions, that's a whole different ballgame... in the UK a lot of you guys have neato little switches from pal to ntsc, and that's not so common here. :\

I guess that I just got used to it back in the days of VCR (So I could get Clockwork Orange and uncut Last House on the Left) - most TVs can just automatically switch between PAL and NTSC. I mean, theres not much point to it in the US as for the majority of people, Region 1 DVDs are far better than their Region 2 counterparts (I know this may not be true in your case as you like British comedy, Indie and arthouse stuff as well as blockbusters), so much so in fact that I've been abandoning Region 2 for Region 1...

I really don't know what the point of my post is, I'm sorry - I have a cold.

no worries. region 2 dvds in a lot of cases are indeed superior for folks like me, because as much as i hate to admit it here i am rather fond of a lot of non-english european cinema [not just horror films, i'm talking drama and silly shit like that], and a lot of great stuff is totally shat on in region 1 if it comes out at all... and of course, for my bbc stuff, there's no other way but PAL dvds.

most of the time, though, since i guess i'm mainly a horror/exploitation film fan, you are correct- the region 1/region free ntsc disc is a lot better than the pal one.. though lately that's been less of an issue due to the censorship issues in the UK in regards to senseless, brutal, consequence-free violence being eased a bit. goreporn plz.

Here - They're still quite chop happy, Last House on the Left STILL hasn't been release (It's shit anyway) uncut. Bizzare really, as thats a hangover from Thatcherism.

i actually have made a bit of a hobby out of reading why the latest films and tv shows are rated what they are... the pornographic video ratings are delightful as well, especially when comments are appended to them.

In particular, in the R18 category - that is material which may be supplied in
licensed sex shops to adults aged 18 or over - the BBFC’s guidelines now state that the
following content is not acceptable:

Any material in breach of the criminal law;

Material likely to encourage an interest in abusive sexual activity (e.g.
paedophilia, incest) which may include depictions involving adults role-
playing as non-adults;

The portrayal of any sexual activity, whether real or simulated, which involves
lack of consent;

The infliction of pain or physical harm, real or (in a sexual context) simulated.
Some allowance may be made for mild consensual activity;

Any sexual threats or humiliation which do not form part of a clearly
consenting role-playing game;

The use of any form of physical restraint which prevents participants from
withdrawing consent, for example ball gags;

Penetration by any object likely to cause actual harm or associated with
violence;

Activity which is degrading or dehumanising (examples include the portrayal
of bestiality, necrophilia, defecation, urolgania).

To obtain this category cuts of 1m 30s were required., some or all of these cuts were substitutions. The cuts were Compulsory.
In accordance with BBFC Guidelines and policy, cuts to this sex tape were required for R18, to remove abusive and potentially dangerous behaviour, including breath restriction, beating a woman with a baseball bat and then penetrating her with the same bat, and choking women and slapping their faces during sexual activity.
