We've got this young Isreali guy in town who drives this Supra around on the weekends, it belongs to his uncle and they're trying to sell it for $55,000. Apparently it's got a salvage title which makes it worth about $5500. This kid beats the crap outta this car and it's in less than desirable condition. I think he's trying to push too much boost so when he steps on the throttle there's a lot of detonation (loud crackling noise from the engine). Suprised the shit isn't blown yet.

He doesn't know about the car and he throws out numbers. His car supposedly has 3 turbos and 700HP. We've seen the engine bay, it's stock with a front-mount intercooler.

Anyway, we got him to race a guy with a blown Cobra; this Cobra dynos 472HP & 409ft/lbs torque. He beat the hell outta the Supra, heh. The kid in the Supra asked how much HP the Mustang has and they told him ~450 so now he says his Supra has ~350. Really it's probably making a lot less than 300 because it's not even running right.

Supras make around 330 and they are laggy as hell due to the turbo. A stock Z28 Camaro will beat it, and it has 25 less HP.

A lotta people think turbo "lag" is a terrible thing, it's not really that bad. That Supra should perform better than it does but it's got mechanical problems and the owner and operator don't know crap about it so it runs like junk.

In the video you can see the guy driving like an idiot. He's a strange guy.

The supra is just to laggy. The Camaro has it's power from the get go.

It's not that laggy... Supra has more power and a six-speed. The Camaro can't put all of it's torque down immediately anyway because it will break traction easily.

As far as 1/4 mile times, they are about dead even (The Toyota claims 13.5 and the Camaro's real world is around 13.9). More power doesn't mean faster. The z28 and the SS's have an option for a 6-speed tranny as well.

A guy my father used to work,with has an SS (320hp 6speed), he was caught going up the El Cajon pass at 210mph. Art is a crazy old man. A Chevy racer from back in the 60s. He is the original owner of a blown 1968 Nova that does 9s in the 1/4. It pulls around 2-3gs. Freakin' amazing.

Well, off a standing start like a quarter, the Supra can hold its engine at a speed that allows the turbo to work well and ride the wheelspin to hookup. In real racing, though, the turbo lag is going to be much more noticable. There are ways around it, but it usually involves really big brass balls and reflexes to match when the turbo kicks in a tenth earlier than you expected.

Actually, it's closer to a five-speed with an extra really really really really tall overdrive. Sixth is useless except for freeway cruising. Also, the proper verb tense is "had" (R.I.P. F-body).

Yeah, a stock Camaro SS will in no way go 210mph.

And about the 6-speed. Yeah, 5 and 6 are both overdrive gears if you're talking about the same one used on the Corvette. That's how it's able to get 29mpg highway.
