i received the sp2 cd yesterday (not crazy to download 250mb in 56k when i can have it in cd and for free) and i want to know if i can format and install winxp already with sp2 updates and more important how i do it
(winxp cd in one drive and xp2 in the other, or i have to copy files to a folder in the hdd (partitioned, so no problem when i format it) )

and other thing that i should know besides disabling win firewall in the first opportunity??

There are ways to splice the sp2 update with an original CD... I'm not sure of the best way to do it, I'm sure someone knows how.

My question - Why not just install xp then install sp2 right away? I mean, might be a little bit slower, but what's the big deal - afraid of what might happen before you get sp2 installed (with Internet and whatnot)?

Ever experienced problems upgrading IE to a newer version on Windows9x? Same deal... leads to a more unstable system for some reason. Plus then you've got all those backed up files and WAY more clutter in "System restore" ... headaches.
