I'm paying more than a hundred bucks for 256/128. This damn country needs some serious investments in the communications area, the fucking foreigners that control most of it don't give jack shit about quality or fair practices, we're being robbed blind and have no other options.

I'm in Anaheim w/DSLExtreme (SBC). Since I'm 10k ft from the CO, I can only get 1500/256 :(. When I lived 6 blocks from here, I had the 6k/608 package.

And companies like that. They move into your neighbourhood, offer lower prices (and tell you they're sticking it to mama Bell or whatever), then when the competition's gone, raise them so high cell lines are cheaper than land lines...

MCI and Sprint tried to do the same thing back in the day. It's better when you've got competition between 2 or 3 big names.

My guess is whatever they're doing is trying to offer low broadband, then raise the price and introduce a package deal that links it cheaply with other verizon services, then when everyone's got both, raise the price of that, etc.
