Man Kills Self at Ground Zero
Saturday, November 06, 2004

NEW YORK — A 25-year-old university worker from Georgia shot and killed himself at ground zero Saturday morning, authorities said.

The man, Andrew Veal, of Athens, Ga., was found atop the structure housing the 1 and 9 subway lines after a hotel worker spotted what he believed was somebody sleeping inside the site around 8 a.m., said Steve Coleman, a spokesman for the Port Authority of New York and New Jersey. A shotgun was found near the body, Coleman said. No suicide note was found, he said.

Veal apparently was distraught over President Bush's re-election, Newsday reported Saturday on its Web site edition, citing an unnamed police source. The newspaper also said the man was a registered Democrat who opposed the war in Iraq.

Coleman said he could not confirm Newsday's account.

Police were investigating how Veal entered the former World Trade Center (search) site, which is protected by high fences and owned by the Port Authority.

Veal worked in a computer lab at the University of Georgia and was planning to marry, friends said Saturday.

Sick, dilluded, stupid silly bastard.

All I can really say is: 1 down probable 1000s to go. Hey a few dollars in buckshot or a bullet is cheaper than a move to Canada. (And I don't care if that sounds cold, it's like it's cool in the 21st century to pout and take stupid action over inane crap so good riddance.)

definitely was depressed about something else or was simply fucking nuts. if you support john kerry and are THAT depressed about another 4 years of GWB, you're definitely ill-informed about john kerry. he's a whore just like GWB, just with [a few] different johns in his clientelle... if he felt so strongly about politics, wouldn't he have supported a real candidate instead of one of the 2 major party assclowns? if he wanted to go out in a blaze of glory, he should have used the opportunity to make it a statement, instead of doing something silly like offing himself by shotgun blast a-la cobain. he could have done this in a number of places where he would have made a considerable mess for a large audience [like in front of a godhatesfags rally or the capital building], but he did it in the middle of the night at a construction site. what a coward, first for choosing the easy way out, second for not even doing it stylishly.

Who says that Canada is safe from the war on terror? I live in the UK, and I'm concerned about the way the world will go. If it wasn't for the fact that Tony Blair and GWB are such tight bum-chums, we might be next ... as it stands, I reckon it's France that'll be the next target.

That said, if the suicidal bloke was really serious, he could have made a better statement ... has he never read/seen Dead Zone?
