SubjectWTH does it take to run NFS Underground 2 on a PC!? new Reply to this message

My dad's computer is a P4 2GHz w/512MB RAM and a GeForce FX5700 256MB DDR vid card.

The game doesn't run fast until I drop the detail level to one notch up from NONE. Does this game need a +3GHz system with the latest video card to operate at full detail and speed?

I've got an XP2100+ with a GF3Ti500, and I could play the demo with the detail settings set to mostly the highest and get pretty good frame rate at 8x6 or 6x4.

People were complaining that it was running crappy on 9800 Pros, and only ran ok on X800s. And oddly enough, the graphics aren't even that great...

It's running well enough ( 30fps ) on medium details, 800x600, only dropping to around 20 when on more crowded parts of the city.

The road texture looks remarkably bad though. Huge pixel blocks.

There must be something wrong on your end, software wise. Get Directx 9c or whaever the latest one is, and the latest ( or the one before the latest, as i've heard of issues ).

And i'm running on an XP 1800 with a GF 4 Ti4200 128MB

So I've got XP2100+, GF3Ti500, latest drivers - 66.93.

At certain points (always at the same ones), it will lock up and display purina logo-like red squares all over the screen. I have to reboot. I've tried the older drivers, lowering sound acceleration, defragging, and changing display settings.

Anyone else have this problem?

p4 3.2, fx5200 128mb

if i turn off the effects i can go up with the resolution really high

but with effects and details high, holy shit...

i was playing online right now, it rocks!
and surprisingly i can, since im on 56k
so the other cars go, know, "jumping" hehe
and are they already fucking all up?? i couldnt win a race!!! the other guys are freaking fast, the best i could manage to do was finish in second (with the first almost 10s before me)

btw, the demo here yet... i so fucking want the full version

its a little crap since you win nos when youre the 1st in the lap, faster lap and stuff
so who is winning, gains more nos to win easier...

when i start at first and finish the first lap at 1st, i win or finish it in 2nd... if not, the 1st guy finishs with 20/30s ahead..

Subject30fps or less, medium settings, 800x600? NT thats kinda shitty new Reply to this message

I guess it's just a bad port job like with Halo - Requires 2GHz P4 w/768MB video + system RAM altogether on PC to run the speed of a 733MHz Mobile Celeron w/64MB X-Box.

You would get a lot of boost if you were going fast up ahead, but if you were stuck behind you could never catch up...

and surprisingly fast
Duron 1.2ghz
GF2 MX440
256mb Ram

running at 640x480 - medium-low detail, and quite, not crashing. its going at a steady 30, dropping to 20,18, on most object filled places.
