Portuguese is being offered as a class next semester. Should I take it? I could be one step closer to am Brasil. ;)

Just be mindfull if you're gonna learn brasilian portuguese or portuguese from Portugal. It's like N American english and UK english, only even more distinct.

It's my language and i love it. If you want to be a cunning linguist i say give it a try. :-)

Be aware that both Portuguese PT and Portuguese BR are heavy loaded on graphical accents. É, ô, à and others.. (a lot of others. its not easy to learn, and its definitely hard to speak, but its worth, since it is the language with more curse words..
